Our impact

Making a difference across the Army community

Each year, the Army Central Fund’s grants support projects and organisations that improve everyday life for serving personnel and their families. Our impact is felt through programmes which support health and wellbeing, provide better welfare facilities and community spaces, and enable access to specialist support for those facing particular challenges. Our funding aims to make a practical difference where it is most needed.

We focus on funding that is well planned, inclusive and designed to deliver lasting benefit. By strengthening wellbeing and improving morale, our grants support retention and help sustain a resilient Army community. We are committed to being an effective, responsible funder, stewarding our resources so they continue to make a difference in the years ahead.

Areas of impact

Our funding provides impact in three areas

We create impact for serving British Army personnel and their immediate families, including spouses, partners and children, wherever they are based. Our funding also strengthens the places, bases and organisations that support Army life. By improving access to wellbeing services, building stronger family networks and supporting inclusive communities, we help people feel more connected, confident and supported. In doing so, our grants contribute to a healthier, more resilient Army community, with positive effects on morale, stability and long-term service.

Serving personnel

Our funding supports serving personnel to maintain their physical, mental and social wellbeing throughout their Army career. Through access to sport, recovery and rehabilitation, and wider wellbeing support, we help individuals build resilience, confidence and a strong sense of belonging within the Army community.

These experiences contribute to improved fitness, recovery and mental resilience, enabling personnel to manage the demands of Service life more effectively. By strengthening wellbeing and reducing pressure, our funding supports morale and helps individuals to remain engaged and motivated in their roles.

Places and bases

Places and bases

We invest in the places and spaces that bring the Army community together. From welfare facilities and community hubs to shared recreational and training environments, our funding helps ensure that the right infrastructure is in place to support daily life.

These environments enable greater participation, connection and collaboration across units and communities. By strengthening local provision and supporting organisations that deliver services on the ground, we help create inclusive, supportive settings where personnel and families can access the support they need.

Spouses partners and families

Spouses, partners and families

Our funding recognises the central role that families play in supporting those who serve. We invest in programmes and services that strengthen family life, reduce isolation and improve access to support, wherever families are based.

This includes support for wellbeing, community connection and opportunities for education, employment and skills development. By helping families feel more stable, connected and supported, our funding reduces pressure on serving personnel and contributes to a more sustainable and rewarding experience of Army life.
