About Us
Who we are
The Army Central Fund is a grantmaking charity which promotes the efficiency of the British Army for public benefit by awarding financial grants that improve wellbeing and quality of life for serving personnel and their immediate families.
The charity was established in 1948 through the merger of several military welfare funds, some dating back to the First World War. Over the decades, these funds have grown through careful investment and additional income, including donations, commercial contributions and the Army’s share of the Defence Discount Scheme. Today, these investments sustain a grants programme of approximately £3m per year.
We are an independent charity, but are closely connected to the Army community we serve.
