An Army Central Fund grant contributed to the creation of a multi-purpose welfare, media and pastime room, known as the “G-Hub”. Designed as a space for creativity, personal development and relaxation, the facility provides soldiers with access to equipment including computers, a 3D printer, photography kit and practical workstations. The space also includes areas for collaborative projects, media use and informal learning, creating an environment where soldiers can explore interests beyond their core duties.
The G-Hub responds to a recognised need for accessible welfare and social spaces within the battalion. For many soldiers, including those from the Gurkha community, opportunities to pursue creative and technical interests can be limited within the working environment. By providing a dedicated space, the project enables personnel to develop new skills, reconnect with previous interests and engage in activities that support mental wellbeing and social connection.
By investing in a long-term, shared facility, the Army Central Fund has helped create a space that supports morale, encourages innovation and strengthens the lived experience of soldiers. The G-Hub will continue to provide lasting benefit, offering a positive outlet for creativity and personal development across the battalion.
